Yoga Therapy

What is Yoga therapy?

Yoga Therapy uses the tools of yoga to help individuals manage their health and wellbeing at any level: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

The tools of yoga include:

  • Postures: To address structural conditions, like muscular tension or recovery from injury or surgery

  • Breath: To optimize energy, balance the nervous system, unplug from "fight or flight."

  • Relaxation: To turn on the body's natural healing mechanism

  • Meditation: To develop a calmer outlook, which enhances immunity and longevity

  • Lifestyle habits: To identify how our choices affect our health

Yoga therapy is effective in managing anxiety, stress, depression, and pain, and is a safe and effective treatment for mental and physical conditions.

I am a certified Yoga therapist, and I offer in-person and virtual Yoga therapy. If you’ve been doing all the right things, therapy, medication, self-help, but still feel overwhelmed and on edge, there is nothing wrong with you. Trauma lives in the body. Through breath awareness and gentle movement, people notice what their bodies need, calm their nervous systems, and feel safe again.

"I worked with Stephanie as a yoga therapist for around 2 years. When we entered therapy, she helped me tease out my goals, which we revisited regularly. The tools she offered me, including Mudras and breathing techniques, were far more successful for me than traditional therapeutic tools I have tried in the past.

Most importantly, I felt so cared for and heard during the time I worked with her, which was something that I really needed to get me where I am now.  I highly recommend her as a yoga therapist. I feel so lucky we crossed paths." A.H.
