Yoga Therapy

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga+Therapy+with+Stephanie+Gould

Yoga therapy is about cultivating optimal health and well being. Instead of looking at disease we are looking at the cause of health and how we can direct practices to optimize health for each individual.

As a yoga therapist I work with individuals and small groups to address underlying issues and craft individualized programs that are specifically designed to meet your goals.

Yoga therapy can help with a range of concerns:

  • Pain, including low back pain, arthritis, and other types of pain such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

  • Neurologic issues and complications of stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's disease and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

  • Mental health including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, insomnia and other major illnesses like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.

  • Healthy aging, including the prevention of osteoporosis.

How I became a Yoga Therapist, and how I work…

As a Yoga Therapist, and psychotherapist, I have had in-depth training to assess and keep my clients safe. I will work with you to address your specific goals while considering any limitations you might be experiencing. The practices I may recommend could include:

  • Movement ranging from gentle to vigorous

  • Breathing techniques

  • Physical postures that address specific areas of discomfort or musculoskeletal imbalances

  • Restorative or yin practices

  • Guided meditation and visualization to specifically address a range of issues like insomnia and general unrest.
